Muar or in Cantonese is "Mah Poh" is famous for it's otak otak.no doubt abt it.everywhere u go,there is ppl selling this special grilled slice fish folded in coconut leaves.rm 0:50 for 1 brain brain(english).hehe.
the otak otak v taste in kl or other parts of malaysia tries 2 emulate the taste of muar but 2 bad,the Muarian otak win hands down over the others.mayb the fish they caught in Muar is so much special when it is grilled n the ingredient they put in makes a difference
btw another thing i noticed is the water in muar.it tastes n smells different.mayb it's gotta do with the close proximity of muar town to the coast n Straits of Melaka.still if u boil n purify it,shud b drinkable as always.
this place is a Chinese populated area,the ppl here speaks Hokkien,Mandarin n some Teochew.being a KL guy n goin down some small town(pls don't bash me) is kinda like a eye opener.hv 2 adjust myself speaking some mandarin n hokkien since
Roads are much narrow,less cars,hardly any tall n nice building over there but this is wat makes the place special n i for 1 like the classic feeling abt it.NICE is the words 2 sum up the place
the next day on fri nite,went 4 a rare movie outing.watch the Ah Long S'porean movie.b4 the show was kinda fire up 2 hv a good laugh as i hv watched the Jack Neo's shows 4 sumtime d,get used to the jokes he made n still laugh a lot.upon reaching the cineplex which is kinda like the 80's pawagam in m'sia,kinda amazed the cinema can still survived until now.it oni has two small cineplexes.took some pics 2 illustrate the retro-ism of the cinema.hehe.once entered to the cineplex,it is all free seating.so 1st come 1st serve.the ticket fellas are two old uncle peeling away the extra n hardly say anything like "enjoy the movie" as compared 2 gsc or tgv youngsters.phew.
on the movie Ah Long which had a few M'sian actors in it,they kinda potrays a lousy n "cuci kasut" character.pathetic performance by both as the KK sucks n oso hv those 'ah kuah' style in him.can't blive Jack picked him upon all the other hopefuls lining up 2 b in his show.really dumbfounded y he picked a cissy dj 2 b an ah long.the other guy Daniel a model is oso wasted in his ah long role.hardly convincing n very annoying at times 2 c him speaks.the oni consolation is the main actor n actress from the show Mark Lee n Fann Wong managed 2 salvage some laughable moments.overall the show kinda sucks 4 me n so lame.
afterall the place is very serene n a good place 2 live if one is looking 4 otak otak 2 eat n an affordable hse 2 stay

although Muar is small n old, but it is sweet n warm place to live..thanks 4 coming muar..appreciate it..i wil remember everything..remember th etime we spent 2geter..
